Gholam Reza Khosravi’s Mother’s Letter to Ahmad Shahid and Ban Ki-moon

HRANA News Agency – Beigom Yadi is the mother of the political prisoner Gholam-Reza Khosravi Savad-Jani. She has written letters to Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, and Ahmad Shahid , United Nation Reporter for Human Rights in Iran. After expressing her gratitude for their efforts, she said the actions taken so far have not helped much.

In her letter to Ahmad Shahid she said ‘Gholam-Reza has been in prison for more than 5 years and he will finish his sentence soon but has not been given access to visitors or permission for an outside visit.

The following are the letters mentioned above:

“In the Name of God

Dear Mr. Shahid,

I am Beigom Yadi, 70, from Isfahan/ Iran. I am the mother of Gholam-Reza Khosravi Savad-Jani who is a political prisoner in Evin Prison and is condemned to execution.

I am a mother who is suffering overwhelmingly. I read your report of human rights status in Iran and especially the section regarding Gholam-Reza. I really appreciate the accuracy of your report and the efforts you have made so far. Unfortunately, the efforts have been of little help and the Iranian authorities have not remitted Gholam-Reza’s execution.

The authorities have no concern or regard for me and Gholam-Reza’s family.

As you have mentioned in your report, execution is not the legal punishment for offering financial help to a TV channel.

Is it legal to abruptly change an already served 6 years sentence to execution?

He has been in prison for more than 5 years and he will finish his sentence soon but has not been given access to visitors or permission for an outside visit.

I am grateful to you and those who have considered Gholam-Reza’s case worthy of concern. I implore you to help Gholam-Reza return to his family and me.

I assure you that if it was not for my poor health I would have followed up his case myself, sadly I am aged and in ill health.

Respectfully Yours,

Beigom Yadi

Beigom Yadi’s letter to Ban Ki-moon

“In the Name of God

Dear Mr. Ban Ki-moon,

I am Beigom Yadi, 70 from Isfahan/Iran. I am the mother of Gholam-Reza Khosravi Savad-Jani , he is a political prisoner in Evin Prison and is condemned to execution.

I really appreciate the efforts you and your reporter, Mr. Ahmad Shahid, have made regarding his case so far.

I read the report Mr. Shahid has made and I appreciate the accuracy of the section regarding my son’s situation.

Gholam-Reza has been treated with excessive intimidation and mental punishment; he was given 40 month solitary confinement just because he offered small financial help to a TV channel and now he has been sentenced to execution. The Iranian authorities have no respect or concern for me and his family.

Gholam-Reza’s life is at real risk and as is mine due to my strong emotional attachment to my son. I implore you to help Gholam-Reza return safely to his family. He is married and has got a 16 year-old son.

Respectfully Yours,

Beigom Yadi
