Abdulfattah Soltani Returned to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Abdulfattah Soltani, a lawyer and prominent human rights defender who is enduring his seventh year of imprisonment, went to Evin Prison by the end of his furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Abdulfattah Soltani, prisoner in Evin Prison, who was on leave from February 10, after the prison authorities refused to extend his furlough, went to Evin Prison on Tuesday, February 18.
Mr. Soltani, who is serving the seventh year of his imprisonment at Evin Prison has been diagnosed with various diseases, including “acute serious colitis and fluctuating blood pressure”. On the other hand, his parole has been rejected, and after 7 years his request for reconsidering his case has not yet been addressed.
Abdulfattah Soltani was arrested on September 10, 2011, and was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment and 20 years of deprivation of attorney due to the acceptance of the Human Rights Award in Nuremberg, Germany, interview with the media about his clients’ case and participation in the founding the Human Rights Defenders’ Center. The ruling was reduced to 13 years imprisonment in the appeal court, then by applying the law of aggregation of crimes and the application of Article 134, his 13-year imprisonment sentence was reduced to 10 years.
