HRANA News Agency – Arash Sadeghi who has been exiled to Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj, after two months since he has been transferred from Evin to this prison, is still in a poor health condition and is denied of having access to health care services. This prisoner who has undergone a long hunger strike and needs serious medical and nutritional treatment under the supervision of a doctor, while in prison, is serving his term of imprisonment and is still deprived of meeting his wife, Glorokh Irai.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Sadeghi, a political prisoner who was exiled from Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj last October, is still in a poor and concerning health condition.

The limited communication situation of political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj and the lack of access to adequate food and physical weakness of Arash Sadeghi, who is in the aftermath of a long hunger strike has been a source of concern for his family and his wife.

Arash Sadeqi has been sentenced to 19 years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court. A few months ago in protest against his wife’s detention, he had gone on hunger strike for over 70 days. Mr. Sadeghi suffers from many diseases, including asthma, colitis, severe stomach and kidney discomfort, all of which are the consequences of a long hunger strike that has worsened as a result of lack of treatment.

Since the transfer of this civil activist to the Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, Mr. Sadeghi’s family has demanded the prosecutor for several times to refer him to medical centers out of prison  because of his deteriorating situation in prison, although these requests have not been addressed so far.

The essential medications are provided weekly by his family and delivered to prison, while the medical care center under the supervision of the Prisons Organization is legally responsible for providing these items.

Considering Mr. Sadeghi’s physical and medical problems, he is still deprived of having access to healthy food.

It should be recalled that Arash Sadeghi was arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence agents for the first time on July 9, 2009, outside Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabai University, along with a number of students protesting against the result of 2009 election, and was released after 90 days on the bail.

This human rights activist was arrested by the IRGC in April 2014 and was released on a bail of 6 billion IRR after 6 months imprisonment. When he was temporarily released from prison, the agents raided his home for his arrest, causing a stroke and eventually the death of Arash Sadeghi’s mother.

Mr. Sadeghi was last time arrested in June 2016 in Evin Prison in the prosecutor’s office to endure his sentence.

He went on hunger strike for 70 days, in protest against his wife’s detention on November 2016 and he was exiled from Evin Prison to Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, in October 2017.
