HARANA News Agency – In a letter addressed to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon; the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Navi Pillay; the UN Special Rapporteur Ahmed Shaheed; the families of Ali Chabishat and Khalid Mousavi, two Arab prisoners on death row in Iran, explained in detail the arrest, transfer into an unknown prison, and execution decree of their children and requested their support to clarify their situations.

According to this letter, their frequent contacts as well as Mr. Azizullah Torabizadeh, the lawyer of these prisoners, with the judiciary authorities have not been responded properly. The full text of the letter is as follow:

“Dear Mr. Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General

Ms. Navi Pillay, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Dr. Ahmed Shaheed, the UN special rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran

The Iranian and foreign organizations and human rights activists

Hello and Greetings,

We would like to inform you that the authors of this letter are the family members and relatives of “Ali Chebishat” and “Seyed Khalid Mousavi,” the two Arab citizen of Iran sentenced to death. We are pour citizens of Iran, residing in the villages and suburbs of the city of Shoush, in the region of Ahwaz located in the south west of Iran.

Regarding the arrest incident and death sentences of Seyed Khalid Mousavi and Ali Chebishat we would like to inform you the following:

On November, 12, 2012, the security forces of the Islamic Republic raided the residences of Seyed Khalid Mousavi and Ali Chebishat without a judicial authorization, any explanation or introduction, causing fear and violence to women and children, and detained these individuals for more than 10 months in an undisclosed location under severe mental, physical and psychological torture.

During the course of arrest, our children have had no access to a lawyer and have not met with their families. Furthermore, given that our children do not know the Persian language, during the interrogations and in court, they have not had access to a trusted translator and the security forces abused this situation and misled them to repeat statements which were unfamiliar with.

Those misleading statements became the “confessions” and the “confessions” provided the basis for their execution sentences.

In a similar scenario, the security forces framed us to request “pardon” from the leader and the head of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic for our beloved children, while we were filmed. In this film, we sat in front of the cameras in the headquarter office of the ministry of Information, seeking forgiveness from the officials for our sentenced children.

After a few days, we were surprised to see that our film and the film of “Confessions” of our children, Seyed Khalid Mousavi and Ali Chebishat, were used to make a video broadcasted from the Iranian state English-language television, named “Press TV”, calling our children criminals and deserve the death penalty!

It should be noted that since their arrest we have done all we can to prove the innocence of our children, Seyed Khalid Mousavi and Ali Chebishat. After months of continuous follow-up while our children were suffering several months of psychological and physical torture in the prisons of the Islamic Republic, they were transferred to a prison in the city of Dezful for sometimes.

Currently, it is more than two months and a half that they have been transferred from the Dezful Prison to an unknown location. We do not have any information about the whereabouts of our children, and the security and judicial authorities give us conflicting information about our children from time to time. One day they are talking about the execution of our children and another day their release or transfer back to the prison. This current situation is unbearable for all members of our families and friends, and as a result several families are subjected to psychological torture.

Considering your responsibilities, time constraints, and the human rights situation in Iran (in particular in the deprived Arab-speaking regions of Iran), we are asking for your kind support and putting pressure on the Iranian authorities to release our beloved children and put an end to their torture in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as our continual psychological sufferings.

With sincere appreciation and regards!

The families of Seyed Khalid Mousavi and Ali Chebishat”
