Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekounam Sent to Furlough

HRANA News Agency – Imprisoned dissident cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekounam was transferred to his house from Saheli prison in Qom for a furlough. This is the third time in less than a month that he has been transferred to his house on the furlough but the Special Clerical Court prevents his hospitalization.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekounam was transferred to his house from Saheli prison in Qom for a furlough on August 17 for the third time in less than a month.
A close source to Mr. Nekounam told HRANA’s reporter: “This is the third time in less than a month that he has been transferred to his house on the furlough and can go out of the house freely for treatment.”
The source also explained about his physical condition: “His physical condition has deteriorated and over the past few days he has been taken to the hospital for several times but he must be hospitalized after medical tests. His family hopes that the Special Clerical Court agrees with his admission.”
In addition to diabetes and high blood pressure as well as heart and kidney failure and complications of a stroke at the solitary confinement of Special Clerical Court on March 3, 2015, he is suffering from loss of vision, numbness in the left side of the body and diseases such as problems in the functioning of the liver.
Ayatollah Nekounam had been transferred to a hospital outside the Saheli prison in Qom on Monday August 1.
Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, Shiite Marja and dissident cleric, was held in Qom prison with a sentence of 5 years imprisonment. After about 18 months imprisonment on June 23, he was transferred from prison to his home, but after a short time he was arrested at his home, on July 7, and again was transferred to Saheli prison in Qom.
In the previous reports it had not been clear if he was out of prison for furlough or on parole.In such a short time of freedom, security forces were monitoring the commuting to the house of Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam and imposed illegal restrictions on his ties and calls, although he was not in the prison.
Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Nekonam, one of teachers of Madrasah in Qom, was arrested in the wake of a critical speech and was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Special Court for the Clergy.
