Political Prisoner Mohammad Sayadi Has Been Expelled from Bou Ali Sina University

HRANA – While serving his two-and-a-half year prison sentence, Mohammad Sayadi, former political chairman of the Student Islamic Society in Hamedan, has been expelled from university.

According to Daneshjoo News, the administration of Bou Ali Sina University has unofficially reported this expulsion, and at present, they are completing the requisite procedural steps.

It should be noted that during the two semesters preceding Mr. Sayadi’s detention, the administration had started to build educational evidence against this student activist by posting low grades on his records and changing his educational status to conditional. Their continued efforts to build a case against Mr. Sayadi have resulted in his expulsion while he is in prison.

Prisoner Raped in Rajaiee Shahr Prison

HRANA – Bahram Tasviri Khiabani, a prisoner held in Rajaiee Shahr prison in the city of Karaj, was raped with a baton by two IRGC members (“Pasdar”) guarding the ward.

Based on reports received by HRANA, a regular prisoner in Rajaiee Shahr prison named Bahram Tasviri Khiabani was placed in solitary confinement as punishment for unknown reasons. Due to the lengthy duration of his isolation and prison officials’ refusal to allow him to contact his family, Mr. Khiabani attempted self-immolation in his solitary cell.

Upon seeing the attempted self-immolation on security monitors, prison guards and Pasdars rescued him from death. Thereafter, they began beating him with fire extinguishers, breaking his hands and legs. They then transferred him to another solitary cell where they raped him with a baton.

Bahram was held in solitary confinement for another month before he was transferred to the prison clinic to receive treatment for the severe infection in his broken leg. After receiving minor medical treatment, Bahram was transferred to the prison’s general ward.

Mr. Khiabani’s family have launched a complaint, which has led to the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to increase their pressures and threats against this prisoner.

 

Dire Physical Condition of a Prisoner in Tabriz Prison

HRANA – Ali Bayzeydzadeh, a prisoner held in Tabriz prison, is in dire physical condition.

Ali Bayzeydzadeh is a Kurdish prisoner from the city of Bukan in the province of Western Azerbaijan. He has been in prison for almost 20 months and is suffering from a digestive ailment that requires immediate surgery outside of prison.

According to Movakerian News Agency, prison officials have refused to allow his transfer from Tabriz prison to the prison in Bukan where his family reside.

Mr. Bayzeydzadeh was sentenced to 2 years in prison and exile to Tabriz prison by the Revolutionary Court of the city of Mahabad for allegedly collaborating with an opposition organization.

 

 

Majid Dori Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

HRANA – Majid Dori’s lawyer confirmed his six years imprisonment sentence by the court of appeals. In his first trial, this deprived of education student was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Manijeh Mohammadi said: “In his first trial, Majid Dori was sentenced to five years imprisonment for acting against national security, five years imprisonment in exile to Izeh (in southwestern Iran) for cooperating with the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI), and one year imprisonment for propaganda activities against the regime.

According to Jaras (rahesabz.net), Mrs. Mohammadi said: “In Mr. Dori’s court of appeals, article 610 – five years imprisonment for acting against national security – was dropped, but five years imprisonment in exile and one year imprisonment were approved.

Mrs. Mohammadi emphasized that there is no evidence that shows any connection between Majid Dori and PMOI. She added: “On previous talks that we had with the judges, they agreed that Mr. Dori is innocent. However, such a vote was issued at the end.”

Majid Dori’s lawyer stated that charging Mr. Dori with acting against national security was actually because of his activities in the Council to Defend the Right to Education.

Majid Dori, deprived of education student and a member of Council to Defend the Right to Education, was arrested on July 9th, 2009.

Hiwa Bootimar Transferred to Solitary Confinement in Marivan Prison

HRANA – Kurdish political prisoner Hiwa Bootimar has been transferred to solitary confinement in Marivan prison.

According to reports received by HRANA, Hiwa Bootimar was taken to solitary confinement over a week ago and there was no news about the condition or whereabouts of this journalist and civic activist until his family were finally able to visit him yesterday.

Mr. Bootimar is currently serving an 8-year prison sentence in Marivan prison. He had previously been sentenced to execution twice by the Revolutionary Court of Marivan, but with the protests of his attorney, Mr. Saleh Nikbakht, these unjust sentences were reversed by the Supreme Court and reduced to 8 years in prison.

 

Meysam Beyg Mohammadi Sentenced to One Year in Prison

HRANA – The appellate court has sentenced Meysam Beyg Mohammadi to one year in prison.

According to Daneshjoo News, the appellate court has reduced the original sentence given to Meysam Beyg Mohammadi, a university student imprisoned in Ward 350 of Evin prison.

Mr. Beyg Mohammadi is a student at Alameh Tabatabaie University and was arrested in the aftermath of the popular protests on December 27, 2009. He was initially sentenced to three years in prison by the lower court. His appellate trial took place in Branch 54 of the Appellate Courts and was overseen by judge Movahed.

Saman Nooranian’s 3 Year Prison Sentence Confirmed

HRANA – Saman Nooranian’s 3 year prison sentence was confirmed by the appellate court.

According to Daneshjoo News, the lower court’s imprisonment sentence for Saman Nooranian has been confirmed by judge Salavati presiding over Branch 15 of the appellate court. Mr. Samanian is a graduate of the prestigious College of Engineering and Medicine at Amir Kabir University; one of the most reputable institutions of higher education in Iran.

Mr. Nooranian who is currently held in Ward 350 of Evin prison was arrested in the aftermath of the popular protests on December 27, 2009 (the day of Ashura).
