Many Arrested, 16 Killed by the End of the 5th Day of the Protests in Iran

HRANA News Agency – The mass-protests which began on December 28, 2017, continued on the fifth day in various cities of Iran. At least 21 cities in Iran were the scene of popular protests on December 28, 2017. Although the major protests were held peacefully but some reports were also received from the conflicts between the police forces and protesters that led to the arrest and wounding of citizens. So far, government sources have confirmed 16 deaths, at least two of whom were the Basij or Corps forces, as well as the arrest of about 450 people. HRANA estimates a much higher number especially with regard to the detainees.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the rallies which have begun on the pretext of economic and administrative corruption, continued in many Iranian cities on the fifth day of the protests. Deprivation of Education for Afrooz Zabihi, a Baha’i Student in Her Fifth Semester

HRANA News Agency – Fifth Term Civil Engineering student from Shahid Beheshti University, Baha’i Afrooz Zabihi, was banned from continuing her education after completing 90 credit hours, because of her religious faith. Miss Zabihi has several achievements in the Shining Genius Test in her name.

According to HRANA, a close source to Miss Zabihi said “on Dec. 19, 2016, at the same time as the publication of the President’s Bill of Rights and the beginning of final exams, she was contacted on behalf of the Education Officer of the college. Moreover, she was verbally notified that her general educational qualifications had not been confirmed, and therefore she would be prevented from continuing her education. She was expelled on the same day, and all her courses in the current term were eliminated. No Information about Payam Shakiba after Being Arrested

HRANA News Agency – Payam Shakiba, former member of the Islamic Society of Zanjan University and student of Allameh Tabatabai University has been arrested by the security forces, after leaving his house in Tehran, and was taken to an unknown location. So far, there is no information about his whereabouts and status and his relatives are worried about his health condition, because of his “acute migraine” disease.

Sepideh Gholian Released on the Bail

HRANA News Agency – Sepideh Gholian (Ghoolian), Ahvazi student was released temporarily on the bail.

A Student Arrested in Ahvaz

HRANA News Agency – Sepideh Gholian, a student from Ahvaz, was arrested by the security forces, at his father’s house and was taken to an unknown location.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the security forces arrested Sepideh Gholian, born in 1995, a fourth semester student of veterinary from Ahvaz and resident of this city at her father’s house and took her to an unknown location on February 24, 2017. Payam Shakiba, Student Activist Arrested in Tehran

HRANA News Agency – Payam Shakiba, former member of the Islamic Society of Zanjan University and student at Allameh Tabatabai University, was arrested by the security forces, after leaving his house in Tehran, and was taken to an unknown location. Mr. Shakiba, earlier in the process of objections to the moral corruption of deputy head of Students Department of Zanjan University, had endured six months imprisonment.

Majid Asadi Arrested and Transferred to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Majid Asadi, former student activist and political prisoner, was arrested violently in his house and transferred to Evin prison by security forces.

Hamid Babai Deprived of Having Prison Visit

HRANA News Agency – Hamid Babai’s family had gone to visit him at Rajai Shahr prison, but they were told that Mr. Babai had been sent to solitary confinement and was not allowed to have visitors because of profanity. After continuous follow-up by the family, it was found out that this claim was not true and Mr. Babai had protested against the prison warden because he had avoided to send his complaint to the judge of his case and was arbitrary punished. Mr. Babbai has protested at Mohammad Mardani, head of prison, because of illegally preventing him from following the legal process of his case, and the warden took the advantage of his position out of prison procedures and regulations, and denied him having visitors and made his family worried about him, by false claims.

According to the report Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), a source close to Babai family told HRANA’s reporter:  “Hamid’s wife had gone from the city of Qazvin to visit him in Rajai Shahr prison in Kara, and she was told that Hamid was incommunicado because of profanity and he was in solitary confinement. She was told to go to the court to pursue the new case. His wife was worried and went there and she found from the law-enforcement office that he was not in the solitary confinement. By contacting the prosecution, she realized that he was not incommunicado, and there was nothing in that regard recorded in the system”. Mohaddeseh Ghasemi Arrested and Transferred to Intelligence Office of Shiraz

HRANA News Agency – Mohaddeseh Ghasemi, 20, student of history at Kharazmi University and a resident of Tehran, was arrested by security forces on the charges related to the “International Day of Cyrus” on December 7. Her fate is unknown after being transferred to Shiraz.
