Arash Mohammadi’s verdict has been confirmed by the appeal court

HRANA News Agency – The branch 6 of Eastern Azerbaijan provincial appeal court confirmed the six months imprisonment verdict of Arash Mohammadi, the leftist student activist imprisoned in Tabriz prison.

 

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Mohammadi was sentenced to six months of imprisonment on July 10, 2013 by judge Bagherpour in branch 3 of Tabriz revolutionary court on charge of propagating against Islamic regime of Iran with two other student activists.  (more…)

Iranian student awarded human-rights prize while in prison

HRANA News Agency – Omid Kokabee, a physics PhD student jailed in Iran since January 2011, was awarded yesterday the 2014 American Physical Society’s Andrei Sakharov Prize for “his courage in refusing to use his physics knowledge to work on projects that he deemed harmful to humanity, in the face of extreme physical and psychological pressure.”

 

Kokabee has said that he had been pressured to cooperate in Iranian military projects that he thought were likely part of a covert nuclear programme. It is the first time a person is awarded the prize while in prison. (more…)

Students’ demonstration in Allame University

HRANA News Agency – A group of ex-students of Allameh Tabatabaei University, which have been suspended during precedent years, asked for reassessment of their files in a protest.

 

According to a report of Tansim, some of the students who were suspended or expelled from the university during precedent years, accompanied by some ex-members of Islamic Student Community of Allameh Tabatabaei, in a remonstration in front of faculty of social science and the office of new dean, asked for reviewing and reassessment of their files. No information about Maryam Shafi Pour’s condition

HRANA News Agency – There is no information about Maryam Shafi Pour’s condition after three days of being under arrest.

 

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Maryam Shafi Pour, the former student of Qazvin international university who was arrested on Saturday July 27, has had no telephone contact with her family yet. (more…)

13 students have been summoned to Shiraz intelligence

HRANA News Agency – 13 students of Shiraz medical since university have been summoned to the intelligence.

 

According to a report by Nedaye Sabze Azadi, these students had been summoned to the building No.100 through telephone calls and were released after some hours of Interrogation.

 

Most of these students were there members of Rohani’s election campaign. The agents have warned them about further activities.

 

According to this report the agents have called also the parents of 3 students recommending them to be careful about their children.
