Iran Protests: 10 Individuals Arrested in Abdanan

The Prosecutor of Ilam Province announced the arrest of 10 people for holding a protest in Abdanan on February 1, 2023.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, quoting Aftab News, on February 1, 2023, 10 people were arrested in Abdanan, Ilam Province.

This judicial official stated: “Yesterday, about 100 people gathered and chanted slogan in Basij Square. Five of these troublemakers were slightly injured, from which they all now have been recovered.”

“This gathering was held in protest against Sajad Moradi Vandi’s arrest and the sentence against Ayat Arefi-Nia, two social media activists in Abdanan. Ten people were arrested, and legal cases have been opened against them,” he added.

This report did not disclose the individuals’ identities.

Since the beginning of nationwide protests, over 19600 people, including journalists, artists, lawyers, teachers, students and civil rights activists, have been arrested. So far, over protests, at least 766 people have been sentenced to a total of about 13612 months imprisonment.
