HRANA News Agency- Ali Asghar Mahmudian was exiled to Semnan prison, following the pressure on political prisoners in ward 350, Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ali Asghar Mahmudian,63, prisoner who is suffering from illnesses such as prostate, arteriosclerosis, hemorrhoids and respiratory diseases and should always be supervised by specialists, was exiled to Semnan prison that is considered as a threat to his health.
This political prisoner is sentenced to 6 years imprisonment in exile on charge of fighting against the God. According to the Article that was revised and adopted in 2013 due to the Penal Code and also, was accepted based on Iranian law and international legal principles, his sentence should be changed.
Ali Asghar Mahmudian was arrested in autumn 2009 and was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment in exile by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, branch 15, with accusation of supporting MEK. He has spent 5 years and 4 months in prison so far.
On 10th of April 2014, he was taken to ward 350 of Evin prison, immediately after he went to “Shahid Moghadas” court, located in Evin prison to complain about the Semnan prison’s horrible condition, while he was on medical leave.
Semnan prison is an old caravanserai that has been changed into prison without any appropriate facilities. High population density, murder, drugs misuse and rape in this prison have been frequently reported. Drug abuse by most of the prisoners, once put Mahmudian on the verge of death.
Currently, apart from Ali Asghar Mahmudian, Behrang Sarkhosh and some of the Baha’is, also, as conscience and political prisoners are serving their sentences in this prison.
