Woman Arrested for Cutting her Hair in Protest 

On September 29, a young woman who cut her hair in protest against the compulsory hejab in Yasuj was attacked and arrested by the security forces.

An informed source told HRANA that the woman had cut her hair, as it is done these days, in protest against compulsory hejab in public. Then, the agents shot at her direction, arrested her, and took her to an unidentified location.

HRANA is working on identifying the woman and obtaining information about her whereabouts.

Since the start of the nationwide protests in Iran, many have cut their hair or burnt their headscarves in protest against the government’s actions.

On September 17, 2022, Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman, died at a hospital after the Moral Police arrested her for improper hejab. Since September 23, demonstrations were held in at least 85 cities and 18 universities across 29 provinces, and are still ongoing, as many have been arrested, injured, or killed.
