Attempt on the Life of Student Activist Shahriar Hossein-Bar in Sistan Balouchestan University

HRANA- Shahriar Hossein-Bar, reformist student activist in Sistan Balouchestan University was attacked and severely beaten by unidentified individuals on campus.

According to Daneshjoo News, Hossein-Bar was twice disciplined and suspended for his activities that included protesting the lack safety and security on campus in 2008, and in 2009 for protesting the election results. He was barred from campus last semester.

On Monday afternoon an unidentified person entered the library of the university and asked that Hossein-Bar step outside to speak with him. Once outside, two men with covered faces attacked Hossein-Bar and began to beat him.

Over the last several days, a number of students have been disciplined for attempted assaults and the pulling of knives. These individuals were attempting to attack students protesting on the anniversary of the post-election protests.

The events surrounding the student protests have lead many to believe that the attacks are revenge against green movement supporters for the disciplinary actions handed down by school officials.
