HRANA News Agency – 11 Prisoners have been executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the 11 prisoners were charged with drug trafficking and have been hanged on June 8th.
These prisoners were transferred to solitary confinements along with almost 9 other prisoners the day before.
According to HRANA’s sources, the prisoners who have been transferred to solitary confinements are so many that the prisoners themselves do not have the exact number.
Because of the fact that the prisoners have been taken from different sections and the importance of the issue, HRANA is not able to provide the exact number but all sources insist that the recent wave of executions is unprecedented. Some sources have reported 35 prisoners being sent to solitary confinements.
Ghezel Hesar Prison had previously 3 gallows but recently 3 new ones have been added to them.
The executions have concerned the families of prisoners and many of them gathered in front of the prison on June 9th as they were called for the last visit with their beloved ones.
There are also reports of a number of prisoners being transferred to solitary confinements in Rajai Shahr Prison. It is yet not clear if these prisoners have been kept in Rajai Shahr Prison or are sent to Ghezel Hesar prison.
