14 Civil Rights Activists Sentenced to Imprisonment and Lashing

HRANA News Agency – Fourteen civil rights activists were sentenced to three months of suspended imprisonment and 10 lashes on charge of participating in a rally at Branch 1044 of Tehran Criminal Court.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), fourteen civil rights activists were sentenced to three months of suspended imprisonment and 10 lashes on charge of participating in a rally at Branch 1044 Criminal Penal Court headed by Habinollah Hashemi.
Fourteen convicted civil rights activist include Maryam Davoodi, Marjan Mir habibi, Hamed Godarzi, Sakineh Akhroiee, Ali Ebrahimpour, Zahra Lashkari, Davood Neamati, Esmail (Zartosht) Ahmadi Ragheb, Zahra Sadat Yahyavi, Maryam Davoodi Omid, Raha Davoodian, Farideh Moradkhani, Fereshteh Karimian and Donya Namazyan who were sentenced to three months of suspended imprisonment and 10 lashes.
The verdict was suspended for two years due to “not having criminal record”.
It should be noted that the civil society activists had been arrested during a protest in front of Evin prison and Dena Tire buildings last year.
