HRANA News Agency – The Sixty-fifth issue of the “Peace Line Monthly” was published.
In this issue and under the title of “Faced with drugs, coping with execution in Iran”, there are discussions about the drug problem in Iran, ways of dealing with it and the need to replace the hard punishments and executions for drug-related offenses.
Accordingly, an interview took place with Dr. Mohammad Saifzadeh, prominent lawyer in Iran about death sentences for drug-related offenses by offering an alternative punishment.
Also, in a joint interview, Dr. Nemat Ahmadi, told about the causes of inefficiency and deterrence hard punishments and executions and the need to using alternative punishments for some crimes.
For a better recognition of prisoners on death row due to drug-related offenses, we also asked seven prisoners on death row in “Ghezelhesar” prison and “Penitentiary in Karaj” about their reasons and motivations of committing these acts.
Two dialogues with the families of two executed prisoners have also taken place.
In addition, several legal experts and lawyers like Amir Salari Davoodi, Hossein Raisi, Muhammad Moghimi, Osman Mozayan and Hassan Fershtian have discussed in separate notes the mentioned tittle from a legal perspective.
