Afshin Baimani will be tried again
HRANA News Agency – Afshin Baimani has been notified by prison officials that a new case under the blasphemy and insulting the leader has been opened for him.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on Wednesday 12th November at 9pm, Afshin Baimani, who has spent more than 14 years in prison, was informed that a new case of blasphemy and insulting the leadership has been opened against him.
In this regard, an informed source told HRANA’s reporter: “Tonight, Afshin Baimani was called to the prison guards and there had been also someone from prison security. They had brought a paper from Karaj court and he was interrogated again, regarding the incidence that a few days before had happened at the clinic. The paper was with the stamp of Karaj court. During the interrogation he was questioned about insulting the Supreme Leader and blasphemy and they informed him that he will be sent to the court in Karaj, soon.”
This source added: “On Saturday, 8th November, Afshin Baimani who had gone to prison clinic saw a prisoner who is accused of murder, Ahmad Fathian, while several places of his body were bleeding and was in a very bad condition but Health officials were doing nothing for him. Afshin complains about their negligence and this causes the new case against him.”
Afshin Baimani Political Prisoner Prison in Hall 12 of Rajai Shahr prison, in Karaj, was arrested on 5th September 2000 and on charge of helping his brother “Mehdi Baimani” to escape and was sentenced to death.
This verdict was upheld on appeal court, but after 6 years, his sentence commuted to life imprisonment.
