HRANA News Agency – Arash Sadeghi, imprisoned civil rights activist in Evin prison who is on hunger strike, was transferred to the hospital, following a sharp drop in his blood pressure pressure and vomiting blood. This prisoner who is now on the 60th day of his hunger strike, was returned to prison due to refusing to receive medical serum.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Sadeghi, civil rights activist who is imprisoned to serve his 19-year imprisonment sentence, has gone on strike hunger since October 24 in protest against the arrest of his wife, Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei, to endure her six years imprisonment.
A close source to Mr. Sadeghi announced this news and told HRANA’s reporter: “He was transferred to Taleghani Hospital because of his low blood pressure and feeling sick and vomiting blood clots. The hospital doctors had ordered an endoscopy because he suffers from serious kidney problems and gastric problems, which are all consequences of the hunger strike. In addition, doctors had advised him to get serum therapy first, because Arash’s body is extremely weak because of being on hunger strike and he must be anesthetized during the endoscopic procedure. However, Arash rejected the serum therapy and he was sent back to prison”.
Mr. Sadeghi is in a critical physical condition, while prison and judicial officials have shown no interest in this subject.
Arash Sadeghi, who is held in ward eight of Evin prison, is losing the power of speech and he says the words cross-sections. He had frequently collapsed over the last week and had an oxygen machine in the prison infirmary. Mr. Sadeghi at this time had “blood vomiting” and suffered severe heart palpitations. This prisoner’s blood pressure, during collapses, dropped to 80 on 40. Mr. Sadeghi’s weight has lost 17 kg, from the beginning of the hunger strike, so far.
