Statement of Eight Political Prisoners in Support of Shahram Ahmadi

HRANA News Agency – In support of Shahram Ahmadi, eight political prisoners in Rajai Shar prison wrote: “Not long ago, his little brother, Bahram Ahmadi, who still had not reached the legal age, was executed. Bad incidents repeatedly hit this family one after another.”

The following is a full text of the letter submitted to HRANA:

“Once again another death penalty; stop killing of the people! The death sentence of Shahram Ahmadi, our Sunni compatriot, must be stopped.

Saturday, 26th of April was the sixth anniversary of Shahram Ahmadi’s imprisonment only because of his objection against continual insult and harassment against the Sunni minority in the province of Kurdistan.  He has been unjustly sentenced to death by those people who cannot stand his courageous acts and resistance against the brutal suppress of freedom and fabricated false accusations against him.

Not long ago, his little brother, Bahram Ahmadi, who still had not reached the legal age, was executed. Bad incidents repeatedly hit this family one after another. Following this horrible and tragic event, his mother suffered a heart attack upon hearing about the execution of her beloved child and almost died.

This was not the end of suffering for this family. When the family was driving to their home city (after their mother’s dismissal from the hospital), they were engaged in a serious car accident. Shahram’s brother and sister were severely injured, and his sister was hospitalized due to critical condition and brain damage. Considering these terrible series of events, the news of his death sentence would dramatically impact the family and would make their lives hundred times more difficult.

This is while the death penalty has been abolished in most of the countries in the world and considered an inhuman act. We, the undersigned, ask freedom lovers, international organizations and human rights activists to put pressure on the Iranian government to stop mass execution of Iranian prisoners and Shahram, our dear Sunni compatriot.”
