Asadollah Asadi Summoned to Return to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Asadollah Asadi, who is on medical furlough, has been ordered to present himself in the coming days to Evin prison, while he suffers from serious physical and psychological problems and his return to prison has caused concerns.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), a person close to the detainee has said that he is currently following his treatment, outside the prison, and his returning to the prison without completing his treatment can cause irreversible problems for him.
This source told HRANA in this regard: “His family is really concerned about his condition. He is mistreated in the prison and even physically tortured. He is not able to tolerate the imprisonment, physically nor psychologically.”
Mr. Asadi suffers from stomach bleeding and severe psychological problems. He is condemned to endure five years and six months imprisonment and has spent more than 5 years of that time in prison, but he has requested a consideration for “punishment intolerance order” and extended leave for the last months due to the acute problems which were mentioned.
Mr. Asadi’s relatives believe his difficult situation particularly, his mental instability is really serious and his returning to prison could endanger his health and safety.
It should be noted that; Doctor Asadollah Asadi, who used to work as a medical doctor in Tabriz, was arrested on 12th July 2010 and detained for alleged links to the Enemy States, and was held in solitary confinement for a period of 5 months and was interrogated under torture in Tabriz intelligence office.
This prisoner attempted suicide, following the pressures in February 2011 in Evin prison, and he was saved by other inmates’ quick action.
