Atena Daemi in Critical Health Condition in Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Atena Daemi, imprisoned civil rights activist in Evin prison is suffering from bad physical condition and has shown symptoms of MS disease.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Atena Daeimi, civil rights activist imprisoned in women’s ward of Evin prison is suffering from bad physical and health condition and her problem is suspected to be MS.

An informed source told HRANA’s reporter, “She was taken to the prison in good health condition and these diseases appeared after her imprisonment”. This source continued, “She has never been good in prison”, and said, “In each visit, she has spoken about one different disease with her family”.

This source mentioned the bad morale of this civil rights activist after her previous transfer to the hospital was publicized in the media. Later her transfers stopped and security forces told to her family “You are over red line and we will not allow it. We do not give you the permission letter for medical treatment outside of prison”.

This source mentioned about the signs like continuous headache, intense weight loss, double vision, bone pain, ad pain in hands and legs and told HRANA’s reporter, “all of the signs for MS disease has been observed on this political prisoner”.

Atena Daeimi has requested to be transferred to the hospital multiple times, but each time security forces has rejected the request, because of publicized photos of Atena with handcuffs, in previous transfer.

HRANA’s source stated that the order to transfer Atena Daemi to the hospital has been issued and said, “The family of Atena have to book an appointment from specialist physician”.

Atena Daemi, 27, was arrested on October 21, 2014 and was for 57 days under interrogations in the solitary confinement. She has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for peaceful civil activities, on charges of propaganda against the regime, collusion and acts against the national security, insulting the supreme leader, insulting the founder of Islamic republic of Iran and hiding criminal tools. This sentence is sent to branch number 36 of the appeal court, and by the time that this news is being edited, no result has been announced.

According to the legal advisors of HRANA, the issued sentence, the pictures of which had been published by HRANA, includes sever legal mistakes so under a fair consideration, a chance of reduction of sentence would be high.
