HRANA News Agency – Attila Saifi (Moosa), civic activist in Miandoab, has been sentenced to 6 months imprisonment in the primary court.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Branch 102 of the General Criminal Court of Miandoab city, by an indictment on 1st June, sentenced Mr. Attila Seifi to 6 months imprisonment on charges of propaganda against the regime, while he was acquitted of charges of belonging to opposition groups.
In this indictment, the reason of his sentencewas mentioned as discovering unauthorized books, leaflets, calls for ethnocentric groups and individuals, and defendant’s statements and “implicit” confessions. However, this indictment has known the issued court verdict as a final decision, and Mr. Saifi, in this regard, told HRANA’s reporter: “we were told that there was a mistake because this court used to deal with drug related crimes and it is its first time dealing with political charges, so, we objected and it was accepted.”
It needs to recall that the persecutor of branch 2 of the Miandoab court had issued non-prosecution order for this civil activist earlier that was met with general persecutor’s opposition.
Attila Seifi, who has frequently been arrested due to his civil activities, in the last case was arrested by security forces at his father’s house, on 29th February 2015, and after several hours of interrogation at the intelligence office in this city, was released on the bail. He was charged, at the time of arrest, with “ethnocentric activities” and his personal belongings, including his laptop and books were confiscated.
