HRANA News Agency – Despite repeated requests by Saeed Shirzad, prison authorities and prosecutor have rejected to transfer this political prisoner to political-conscience prisoners’ ward in Rajai Shahr prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Rajai Shahr prison authorities have said that; Tehran prosecutor’s office and particularly, prosecutor Khodabakhshi had the authority in this regard, while, on the other hand the prosecution authorities say; the prison authorities had the authority to transfer prisoners inside the prison.

This children’s rights activist left the last trial, in April this year, as a protest as he had not been notified beforehand and because of his lawyer’s absence that despite repeated requests, had not been able to enter the court room and also had no access to study his client’s case.

This civil activist, had already twice refused to attend the trial in protest to this issue, as well as compulsory handcuffs and shackles, but still his appointed lawyer is denied to study his client’s bundle or to meet him.

Saeed Shirzad was arrested in his office at Tabriz Refinery on June 2014 and was first taken to Evin Prison and later he was exiled to Rajai Shahr prison because of complaining about lack of basic facilities and pursuing prisoners’ problems, despite his trial had not been held yet and he was under detention.

Now a part of his charges are supporting and providing education for children of political prisoners, but he was arrested already once on 21st August 2012, when he had gone to Ahar, in East Azerbaijan to aid the people after the earthquake, and was released on the bail after spending 19 days under detention.
