Hamza Darwish in a Critical Condition in Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Hamza Darwish, young Sunni prisoner in Evin prison who suffers from mental illnesses, was severely beaten and insulted by a hospital staff and two soldiers in the hospital. The officials continued to ignore his complain and medical care. The family of the prisoner have been threatened by the intelligence officers on the condition of their son.

According to the report of Human Rights Activist News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the complaint of Hamza Darwish, Sunni prisoner who had been beaten in the hospital has not been addressed yet.

On the other hand, his family has been threatened during a phone call by the intelligence officers about the condition of their son.

They have been threatened while Mr. Darwish becomes no medical care in the case of chest injury caused by the beating in the hospital.

Hamza Darwish, 23, Sunni and from Talesh who suffers from mental illnesses, is being held in hall 3 of ward 4 of Evin prison.

HRANA had reported earlier, Mr. Darwish who suffers from mental illnesses, was severely beaten and insulted by a hospital staff and two soldiers in Taleghani hospital in Tehran, which ended in one of his ribs being cracked and his body and eyes being bruised.

According to the report, Hamza Darwish was chained and handcuffed to the bed in the hospital.

The Sunni prisoner had not been allowed to o go to the bathroom, finally he was allowed to go to the bathroom with shackles. He protested against this, for which a hospital staff and two soldiers beat and insulted him.

The prisoner was insulted during interrogations and transferred to prison repeatedly and during the detention had no access to medications.

Hamza Darwish was arrested on charges of “leaving the country illegally” and was held in solitary confinement of Intelligence in Rasht for 100 days, and also was held in Lakan Prison and was then transferred to Evin prison. The prisoners was forced to be held in the quarantine of Evin Prison for 35 days and was then transferred to hall 3 of ward 4.

Mr. Darwish had been arrested in 2015 on similar charges and was released on the bail after two months of solitary confinement in the Intelligence Ministry.
