HRANA News Agency – Hussein Rafie, elderly political prisoner was transferred from the hospital to his house. The national-religious activists following the deterioration of his health condition had been admitted at Sina hospital in Tehran since August 11. It is not clear if he is released or is on medical furlough.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Hussein Rafie, 71, political prisoner in ward 7 of Evin prison was transferred from Sina hospital in Tehran to his house on September 18.
Hussein Rafie, national-religious activist in Evin Prison was hospitalized following the deterioration of his health condition. Despite medical advices, he was returned to the prison after examinations.
Mohammad Hossein Rafie, 71, national-religious activist and retired professor of Tehran University, suffers from different diseases in Evin prison. On August 2, specialists had requested him to be hospitalized.
Amnesty International in a statement about his situation expressed their concern and demanded immediate action in this case.
Mr. Rafie, member of the national-religious activists had pointed several cases of violation of rights while protesting against illegal status of his detention in a letter to the Attorney General.
Mohammad Hussein Rafie, political activist and member of the national-religious activists and retired university professor was arrested in 2000 along with a group of national-religious activists and was sentenced to 4 years in prison but the sentence was never executed. The verdicts of Mr. Rafie and the rest of the national-religious activists were announced a few years after their arrest in 2003.
He was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of “propaganda against the system through interviews with opposition media, statements against the regime and national security”, “activities and membership in an illegal organization called the Coalition of National-Religious” and “the use of satellite equipment” in the branch 15 of the revolutionary court presided over by judge Salvati. The verdict was delivered to his lawyer on May 25, 2015.
Then Mr. Rafie was arrested in the street and transferred to Evin prison on June 15, 2015.
