Jafar Rostami Rad Released after 2 Days of Detention

HRANA News Agency – On August 17, Jafar Rostami Rad from Ardabil was released “without bail” from Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on August 17, Jafar Rostami Rad who had been arrested two days earlier and had been transferred to Evin prison, was released “without bail” from Evin prison.
A close source to Rostami family told HRANA’s reporter: “MS. Ziba Pilevar, Mr. Rostami’s wife, went to Ardebil Intelligence Office and protested against the arrest which disrupted their wedding ceremony and had threatened that if her husband would not be released, she would set herself in fire while wearing wedding dress in front of governor of Ardebil”.
The source also said: “The wedding of the two was to be held on Friday, August 19, in Ardebil.”
Jafar Rostami Rad had previously been arrested for his activities. Last time he was sentenced to 6 months in prison for damaging governmental properties by branch number 101 of criminal court of Astara city.
Before that he was tried in 2014 along with 18 others in branch number 104 of criminal court of Tabriz, and sentenced to three months and 1 day prison and 30 lashes, for performing unusual and hooligan behavior in Yadgar Imam Stadium.
This court suspended the sentence for two years.
During the soccer match between Tractorsazi and Aljazeera from UAE, tens of Azeris and fans of this soccer club were arrested in Tabriz, on February 26, 2013.
Jafar Rostami Rad was also arrested for attending Savalan ceremony, along with other Azeri activists in summer 2014 and released on the bail after few days.
Jafar Rostami Rad is graduated from Mohaghegh Ardabili University in Mathematics and is a student in industrial engineering in Payam Noor university of Ardabil.
