HRANA News Agency – Kayvan Samimi, political prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison of Karaj was released by ending his sentence.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Kayvan Samimi Behbahani, journalist and Nationalist-Religious party activist, was released after serving 6 years, from Rajaei Shahr prison on Saturday, May 16.
Kayvan Samimi, the member of Nationalist-Religious Activist association, General manager of apprehended journal of Nameh, member of association of defense of press freedom, member of National Peace Council, member of Committee to Follow up for arbitrary arrests and defending right of education, was arrested in his house, just one day after the presidential elections of 2009.
He was sentenced to 6 years in prison, on charges of questioning the execution of presidential elections and attending in protests and writing in critical papers. He was exiled to Rajaei Shahr prison, along with many other political prisoners in December 2010.
Need to be mentioned, this political and human rights activist has imprisonment record in previous regime as well. One of his brothers has been executed in Shah regime and the other in 80s by Islamic Republic.
