HRANA News Agency – Majid Mohammadi Moin, prisoner of Evin prison, ended his hunger strike.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Majid Mohammadi Moin, prisoner of Evin prison, who had gone on hunger strike, to protest against his new verdict, and the complicated situation of his family caused by this verdict, ended his hunger strike.
According to the same report, following deterioration of his health condition, this prisoner was transferred to the clinic and after the presence of Khodabakhshi, the prison supervisor prosecutor, Javad Momeni, the prison director, and representative of the Ministry of Intelligence he was promised that after breaking his hunger strike, his case will be sent for a retrial in Branch 33 during the next week and he will be sent to furlough a week later.
Earlier, there were some reports suggesting that he was being forced by the security guards inside the prison to sign a statement regarding his personal responsibility for the risks of his life arising from his hunger strike.
Majid Mohammadi Moin, prisoner in ward 8 of Evin prison, had gone on hunger strike since 4th October, to protest the lack of sufficient evidence and lack of lawful factors regarding his new verdict, and objection to what he described as a dictated sentence by the security agencies to the judge of his case and the complicated situation of his family.
This prisoner of Evin prison, demand an impartial judicial proceedings of his case, considering serious procedural egregious errors in this case and being sent on furlough until his case will be clarified.
Majid Mohammadi Moin, who has been enduring his 4 years imprisonment sentence from January 2011, in Evin prison, by a new case was sentenced to one year more imprisonment, in July.
Mr. Mohammadi Moin was sentenced to one year imprisonment in 2014, while he was in prison, on charge of propaganda against the regime. After he protested against the issued ruling, the Branch 36 of the Province Appeals court approved the new sentence and he was notified of this sentence in August.
Majid Mohammadi Moin, a journalist of “Bayan”, and “Salam” newspapers, and director of the Economic Committee of “Young Sport Writers Association” had been sentenced to 4 years imprisonment on charge of gathering and collusion and acting against the national security.
It is not clear if Mr. Moin’s sentence has connection to his activities as a journalist.
