HRANA News Agency – The execution sentence of Mehdi Pak Goftar from Ilam who was convicted for drug offenses in the central prison of Ilam has been postponed. His old parents has had sit-in outside the Head of the Judiciary’s Office and insisted on the innocence of their son.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), the death penalty for Mehdi Pak Goftar on charges related to drug offenses was supposed to be done on Wednesday July 13 in the central prison of Ilam but has been postponed for unknown reasons.
HRANA had reported earlier that, Mehdi Pak Goftar, born in 1982, from the village of Fatemieh in Ilam city, was going to be executed on Wednesday July 13 in the central prison of Ilam on charge carrying and storing drugs.
A close source to the family of Pak Goftar with announcing this news in an interview with HRANA had said: “Mahdi has been held in the central prison of Ilam since 2010. His family says that Ayatollah Khamenei’s representative has requested his execution to be pardoned but this request was not agreed with and he is supposed to be executed in the central prison of Ilam on Wednesday.”
It is noteworthy that this prisoner’s aged parents, 70 and 68 years old – his mother was diagnosed with MS as well – with the belief in the innocence of their child, for two months have sit in front of the office of Mr. Amoli Larijani.
