HRANA News Agency – The first branch of the General and Revolutionary Courts of Shazand of Markazi province has summoned lawyer Mohammad Najafi. In the summons the charge of Mr. Najafi has listed as “disturbing the public opinion” and he must attend the hearing within five days of receiving the summons.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mohammad Najafi, lawyer and activist in the field of human rights, is free on the bail because of this case.
Mohammad Najafi has been prosecuted in another case for political charges by the disciplinary prosecutor of the city’s Bar Association, and was going to be on trial on 9th of February.
The disciplinary prosecutor of Bar Association of Markazi Province (Arak), according to an unidentified citizen’s complaint, has procecuted Mohammad Najafi on a series of politically motivated charges such as “participating in illegal Sit-in of Nasrin Sotoudeh “, “advocacy of Nasrin Sotoudeh and Nourizad”, “blogging and posting critical posts on Facebook”.
Nasrin Sotoudeh, a lawyer for Mr. Najafi told our reporter that the Disciplinary Court of Lawyers could not directly prosecute a lawyer in order to spur political and security charges and such matters could be addressed only if the competent court had already issued a verdict of such charges, and had sentenced the lawyer.
It is said that the initial complainant as “Signature reserved” has introduced him/herself as an “individual member of the society” and claimed that Mohammad Najafi with “pleasing- enemy” activities provides deviation of youth.
Shazand is one of cities in Markazi province. The center of the city is located 33 km southwest of the city of Arak.
