Mokhtar Asadi Arrested in Tehran

HRANA News Agency – Mokhtar Asadi, member of the Teachers’ Trade Union of Kurdistan who had referred to the Revolutionary Court of Tehran for pursuing his bail was arrested on September 18, 2017.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mokhtar Asadi, activist and a member of the Teachers’ Trade Union of Kurdistan who had went to the Revolutionary Court of Tehran for pursuing his bail related to his former case was arrested and transferred to the prison.

The Kurdish teacher, from Sanandaj, was previously arrested by the security police at the major protest of representatives of teachers in 2006 and a case was opened for him.

The Department of Education of Kurdistan province had extended Mokhtar Asadi’s sentence of exile for the fifth year in a row in 2012, which was canceled by his complaint to the Administrative Justice Court.

After that, Mokhtar Asadi was arrested in 2010 after some other members of the Teachers’ Trade Union such as Mahmoud Beheshti Langeroudi, Ali Akbar Baghani, Seyed Mahmoud Bagheri and Ismail Abdi had been arrested. He was then taken to ward 209 of Evin prison. Mr. Asadi was released on the bail after 66 days of arrest, and judge Salavati issued a one-year sentence for him on charge of propaganda against the regime in branch 15 of the revolutionary court.
