HRANA News Agency – Omid Alishenas, imprisoned in ward 8 of Evin prison, in his 14th months of detention, is held still in undecided condition and also no date has been announced for his trial.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Omid Alishenas, civil activist detained in ward 8 of Evin Prison, who was arrested in September last year, in the 14th month of his detention is in an indeterminate state and no time has been announced for the Court of Appeal.
Based on this report, during all these fourteen months, the stuffs that have been seized by the security forces at the time of arresting Omid Alishenas, which belong to his father, mother and brother, despite the request and writing to the prosecutor by the family have not been returned to them.
Simin Eyvaz-zadeh, his mother, earlier in an interview with Human Rights Activists News Agency regarding to the time of Appeal Court had said, “The appeals court date has not been announced yet. The authorities say they have a big number of cases and have to deal with the case in turn.”
She had continued, “No time has been declared. The argument is that if they let us know then we will be there from 8 o’clock in the morning.”
Omid Alishenas was arrested on 4th September last year, and was transferred to the ward 2A of Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and despite the requested bail of 100 million Tomans, the primitive court and previously, the prosecutor refused to accept the bail for unknown reasons.
Mr. Alishenas, due to his peaceful civil activities, has been charged with propaganda against the regime, gathering and collusion against the national security, and insulting the leadership, and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. His trial was held along with three other civil activists, in less than fifteen minutes, by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, which was presided by Judge Moghiseh, and they were sentenced to a total of 38 years imprisonment.
According to the verdict, virtual activities and publishing critical articles about the human rights situation and executions in Iran, empathy and solidarity with the families of political prisoners and families of prisoners sentenced to death, participating in a rally in defense of Kobani, sympathy with the families of victims in 2009 and holding contact with human rights activists, are the evidences that this civil activist has been charged for.
