A Report about Latest Status of Arash Sadeghi

HRANA News Agency – Arash Sadeghi, civil rights activist who is imprisoned in ward 350 of Evin prison, is still deprived of being sent to hospital. Secrete of some enzymes resulted in inability to digest food, and intestinal adhesion has made his condition even worse. One of his kidneys has been lost and his heart’s muscles have deteriorated.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Arash Sadeghi, political prisoner of ward 350 of Evin is still in critical condition.

A clos source to Arash Sadeghi told HRANA’s reporter “His stomach condition is worsening every day, and almost every day he has nausea and cannot digest food. According to physicians this condition is because of secretion of certain enzymes. In addition, Arash’s stomach has intestinal adhesions that has made the condition even worse”.

This informed source continued, “the condition of his heart and lungs are reported to be very bad; his heart’s muscles have deteriorated. Arash has been diagnosed with asthma and his lung infection has spread. He has lost one of his kidneys”.

This close source to Arash Sadeghi emphasized at the end, “prison’s clinic does not have adequate medical facilities and is not able to treat Arash. Until now, several hospitalization orders have been issued, but officials do not allow that, and threatened him that because of his hunger strike and his letters and pressure from the IRGC, he would not leave the prison alive.”

Arash Sadeghi, former student activist, and expelled student of Allameh-Tabatabaei university of Tehran and human rights activist, was sentenced to 19 years in prison on charge of collusion and propaganda against the national security, insulting the supreme leader, spreading lies in social media and founding a group, and having a conditional 4 years in prison related to a case back in 2010.

Arash Sadeghi was arrested for the first time in front of Allameh-Tabatabaei university in July 2009 and released on the bail after 90 days.

This human rights activist was arrested again in May, 2014 by the IRGC and was released after 6 months on the bail of 6 billion IRR. During his temporary release time before the trial, security forces raided to his house to arrested him that their violent raid resulted in his mother’s heart attack which resulted in her death.

Last time Arash Sadeghi was arrested in Shahid Moghadas court of Evin prison to serve his sentence in June 2016.

He started a hunger strike in protest to the arrest of his wife, Golrokh Ibrahimi Irai in November that took for more than 70 days.
