Sedigheh Moradi Released from Evin Prison
HRANA News Agency – Sedigheh Moradi, political prisoner was released from Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Sedigheh Moradi, political prisoner, was released by the order of branch number 53 of the appeal court of Tehran province, from women’s ward of Evin prison, on November 23.
A close source to the family of this political prisoner told HRANA’s reporter, “The request for a retrial was accepted in the supreme court and was sent to branch number 53 of the appeal court of Tehran province. This branch reduced the sentence to 5 years in prison, and she was released from prison after 7 months”.
Sedigheh Moradi, political prisoner of women’s ward of Evin prison had been arrested on May 1st, 2011, and transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison. She was charged with waging war against God and being in contact with opposition groups by judge Mohammad Moghiseh and in branch number 28 of the revolutionary court was sentenced to 10 years in prison and exile to Rajaei Shahr prison. This sentence was confirmed in appear court. This prisoner who had been arrested twice in 1980s, was kept in ward number 209 for 7 months and then transferred to the general ward.
