Kourosh Jalil Arrested and Transferred to Prison to Serve His Sentence

HRANA – Kourosh Jalil, a resident of Yasuj, was arrested and transferred to the city’s prison to begin serving his 15-month prison sentence.

Based on information received by HRANA, on Friday, November 21, security forces entered Mr. Jalil’s home, arrested him, and transferred him to the Yasuj Prosecutor’s Office. He was then taken to the city’s prison to begin serving his sentence.

In August, Mr. Jalil was sentenced by Branch 1 of the Yasuj Revolutionary Court to two years, one month, and one day in prison. This included 10 months for propaganda against the regime and 15 months and one day for insulting the Supreme Leader and the founder of the Islamic Republic. Since he did not appeal the ruling, the verdict became final and enforceable. Under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, the most severe punishment, 15 months and one day, will be applied.

In May of this year, Branch 1 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Boyer-Ahmad issued an indictment against Mr. Jalil on charges of propaganda against the regime and spreading falsehoods. His hearing, along with two other citizens, had previously been held at the same branch.

In December of 2024, in another case, Kourosh Jalil was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic, unlawful assembly, insulting Islamic sanctities, insulting the Supreme Leader, and propaganda against the regime. This sentence had been suspended for one year.

Kourosh Jalil had been released on bail in July 2024 after being arrested the previous month. On that same day, his sentence of a monetary fine was enforced following several hours of detention.

Kourosh Jalil Sentenced to Over Two Years in Prison

HRANA News Agency – Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Yasuj has sentenced Kourosh Jalil, a resident of Yasuj, to two years, one month, and one day in prison.

According to the verdict, the court imposed ten months for “propaganda against the regime” and one year, three months, and one day for “insulting the Supreme Leader and the founder of the Islamic Republic.”

Jalil announced the verdict in a public post, stating that the IRGC Intelligence Organization had filed the complaint that led to his prosecution.

Earlier, Branch 1 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Boyer-Ahmad indicted him on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “spreading falsehoods.” His preliminary hearing, alongside two other citizens, took place on April 29, 2025.

The Ministry of Intelligence arrested Jalil in May 2024 and released him on bail two months later in July.

In a separate case, another court sentenced Jalil to three years in prison for “insulting the founder of the Islamic Republic,” “unauthorized assembly,” “insulting Islamic sanctities,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” and “propaganda against the regime.”

Kourosh Jalil Sentenced to One Year in Prison

Kourosh Jalil has been sentenced to one year in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Boyer-Ahmad County.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, the verdict was recently issued and officially communicated to Mr. Jalil. He was convicted of “continuous propaganda against the regime.”

This is not the only case against Mr. Jalil. In late September, he was sentenced to three years in prison by Branch 101 of the Criminal Court of Boyer-Ahmad County. That ruling was based on charges of “participating in an illegal gathering,” “propaganda against the Islamic Republic,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” and “blasphemy through his Instagram activities.”

HRANA’s sources indicate that another hearing is scheduled for November 5 in Branch 108 of the Criminal Court of Boyer-Ahmad County. This session will address additional charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “spreading false information online to disturb public opinion.”

Jalil was first arrested on May 24 this year by agents of the Yasuj Ministry of Intelligence. After a brief period in The Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility, he was transferred to Yasuj Prison. He was later released on bail on June 24.

Jalil, a 43-year-old resident of Yasuj, has previously encountered law enforcement and undergone prior arrest due to his activism.

Shahab Mohammadian Arrested in Yasuj

On June 16, 202, Shahab Mohammadian, a resident of Yasuj, was arrested by security forces in this city and transferred to an unknown location.

Based on information received by HRANA, Mohammadian’s arrest took place on Sunday, June 16, by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence. Mohammadian is a relative of Kourosh Jalil, a detained citizen from Yasuj who is currently being held by the Ministry of Intelligence’s office in this city.

As of the time of this report, no information is available about the location where Shahab Mohammadian is being held or the reasons for his arrest.

Kourosh Jalil Sentenced to One Year in Prison

The Criminal Court sentenced Kourosh Jalil, a resident of Yasuj, to one year in prison.

According to HRANA, the news agency of Human Rights Activists, Kourosh Jalil was sentenced to one year in prison, including the pre-trial detention period, for “spreading falsehood to disturb public opinion.”

An informed source told HRANA that Jalil failed to appear at the court to defend himself since the intelligence agents had seized his cell phone; hence, he could not be informed about the court summons.

On September 21, 2022, security forces arrested Jalil in Yasuj and released him on bail on November 6, 2022. Before his arrest, he had been summoned by IRGC intelligence several times in recent months.
