Tens of Teachers Arrested in front of Iranian Parliament
HRANA News Agency – Tens of teachers were arrested, following the silent protest that was held in front of the parliament, and then transferred to security police detention centre, located in Abbas Abad Street.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the silent protest of teachers on July 22, was held under heavy police and security forces presence and many teachers were arrested and transferred to security police detention centre, located in Abbas Abad Street. The name of Hashem Khastar is seen among the arrestees.
The spouse of Hashem Khastar confirmed this news and told HRANA’s reporter, “nearly 200 teachers were arrested and transferred to detention center of security police in Abbas Abad street and still it is unknown if they are going to be released or not”.
According to her, despite the heavy presence of police forces, their behavior was not bad, but few individuals with unknown responsibilities and mostly young intended to insult teachers.
Ali Motahari, the parliament member has stated in a critical article that these arrests will intensify the problems.
Teachers protest was held in regard of some union demands and request for the freedom of union activists and the chairman of teachers union.
