Three Activists Released / One Arrested; Azerbaijan Provinces

HRANA News Agency – Following the protests in various cities of Azerbaijan and Ardebil provinces in response to an article which was published in the newspaper of “Tarhe No”, a wave of arresting protesters in these cities began. Gradually, the identities of some of them who were arrested or sent to judicial centers have been verified: Nasim Sadeghi in Tabriz and Mohamamd Jolaei, Hossein Balakhani, and Ahmad Mohammadzadeh in Ardebil are the activists who were released on the bail recently. However it has been reported that Babak Hosseini Moghaddam was arrested in Tabriz.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Nasim Sadeghi in Tabriz and Mohamamd Jolaei, Hossein Balakhani, and Ahmad Mohammadzadeh in Ardebil were released on the bail.

Nasim Sadeghi, one of the detainees in Tabriz, was released on a bail of 100 million IRR from the prison of this city, also it has been reported that Mohamamd Jolaei, Hossein Balakhani, and Ahmad Mohammadzadeh in Ardebil were released on the bail from Ardabil prison.

There is no clear information about their charges.

Although several detainees were released but some of them, including Ali Jabbari, poet and Roozbeh Piri, along with 6 others are still held in Tabriz prison.

On the other hand, Intelligence Ministry Agents in Tabriz raided Babak Hosseini Moghaddam’s house in Feizieh in Tabriz, arrested him and transferred him to an unknown location. They asked his father to show up at “Room 37 of Intelligence Ministry”, located in the Tabriz prison, the next day morning.

A little further away from Azerbaijan and Ardabil provinces, in Tehran there is no information about the status of Siamak Mirzaei one of the detainees. Although his family went to Branch one of Tehran Revolutionary Court, they have no information about him yet.

HRANA had reported earlier that after protests by Turkish citizens to racial insult in Tarhe No newspaper in Tabriz and Urmia cities, a large number of citizens were arrested 15 to 25 of whom were released on the bail or by writing onus letter and at least seven people are still in detention.

On July 28, the wave of arresting Turkish (Azeri) activists in various cities including Tabriz, Urmia, Khoy, Maragheh, Zanjan, Ardabil and Tehran continued by arresting 24 others.
