Three Student Activists Sentenced to Imprisonment

HRANA News Agency – Mohsen Haghshenas, student of Stage Designing at Tehran University, was convicted by Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of gathering and collusion with the intention of committing a crime against the security of the country and disturbing public order by taking part in illegal gatherings, to two years imprisonment. Leila Hossein Zadeh and Sina Rabiei, two other student activists, were sentenced to eight years imprisonment in total and a ban on leaving the country.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Mohsen Haghshenas was sentenced to two years imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court.

Mr. Haghashenas was sentenced to two years imprisonment on charges of gathering and collusion with the intention of committing a crime against the security of the country and disturbing public order by taking part in illegal gatherings on March 5.

This news has been confirmed by the student councils of the country. However, the court proceedings and the proceedings of the case of this student activist are not known.

HRANA has reported that Leila Hossein Zadeh, secretary of the Tehran Central University’s Students’ Council, who had been arrested on January 1, 2018, in front of her house by security forces, was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment and two years “ban on leaving the country” by Judge Mashallah Ahmadzadeh, head of Branch 26 of Tehran Revolutionary Court. Ms. Hossein Zadeh had already spent 16 days in detention. Along with Ms. Hossein Zadeh, Sina Rabiee, another student at Tehran University, was sentenced by the same branch to one year imprisonment and two years “ban on leaving the country”.
