Two Arab Civilians Arrested in Ahvaz

HRANA News Agency – Riyaz Botrani and Valid Obaidavi, two civilians from Alavi neighborhood of Ahvaz were arrested by security forces at their houses and taken to an unknown location on August 12.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on August 12 at 6:30 am, Riyaz Botrani, 20, and Valid Obaidavi two Arab civilians from Alavi neighborhood of Ahvaz were arrested by the security forces at their houses and taken to an unknown location.
A close source to them told HRANA’s reporter: “Riyaz Botrani’s brother is from Alavi neighborhood (Hay Al-Thawra) of Ahvaz who was killed in the unrests in Ahvaz in 2005. The family members have been arrested several times by the Intelligence Ministry due to their activities.”
The source also told: “While Riyaz was arrested, his mother began to cheer and chant in Arabic as a sing of protest, which made the security forces angry and they broke the fixtures during the home inspection.”
