HRANA News Agency – Yunes Aghayan, political prisoner in Mahabad prison, in the twelfth year of his imprisonment, is still being deprived of having furlough.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Yunes Aghayan, political prisoner in Mahabad prison, in the twelfth year of his imprisonment, has handed in his furlough request to the judicial and security authorities for several times and he is waiting for their reply and the possibility of having furlough.

According to the report this request has been confirmed by the revolutionary court and the prison and is waiting for confirmation of the intelligence office and security forces.

Yunes Aghayan, political prisoner in Mahabad prison, in the twelfth year of his imprisonment is held between prisoners with non-political charges despite the principle of separation of prisoners.

This political prisoner was arrested in the wake of armed clashes between security forces and a group of followers of Path of Ahle Hagh in the Uchtappeh village of Miandoab in October 2004.

He was first sentenced to death and 5 year imprisonment, after his arrest, on charges of Muharebeh, by the Revolutionary Court. The sentence finally and following “Leadership’s amnesty” with a degree of mitigation, was commuted to life time imprisonment.

Yunes Aghayan with five other political prisoners was transferred from Central Prison of Urumieh to an unknown location in late February last year. It was said that these people have been moved to solitary confinement for execution. It was found that after ignorance for four months Yunes Aghayan with Saman Naseem have been transferred to Zanjan Prison.

He was transferred from Zanjan prison to Mahabad Prison by the conversion of death sentence to life imprisonment on 31 August 2015.
