HRANA News Agency – Judicial official refused to give furlough for attending the funeral of mother and wife to two prisoners of ward number 350 of Evin prison.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Ghorban Behzadiannejad’s mother and Ahmad Hashemi’s wife have passed away after a period of illness during passed two days.
In contrast to the prisons organization act, which clearly states that in case of illness or death of a first-degree family member, prisoners could be sent to furlough the prison and judicial officials have refused to give this permission to these two prisoners.
According to HRANA, despite the repetitive requests of these prisoners during the illness periods of their family members, prison and judicial authorities has refused to give furlough to these prisoners, and they could not even attend in the funeral of beloved family member.
Previously, officials had agreed with the furlough request of Alireza Rajaei, another prisoner of ward 350 whose father had passed away, under the condition that he will attend the funeral in handcuff and with prison uniform. These conditions were rejected by Mr. Rajaei and he could not attend the funeral ceremony.
Ghorban Behzadianejad was the head of presidential campaign and advisor of Mir Hossain Mousavi and former deputy minister of health in president Khatami’s government and university professor, who is serving his fifth year in prison.
Ahmad Hashemi is the member of Sazman Mojahedin Enghelab Islami and general director of inspection department of the interior ministry in President Khatami’s government, who is serving fifth year in prison as well.
