3 Prisoners in Rey and Evin Prisons Die Because of Medical Negligence
HRANA News Agency – An imprisoned woman with high blood pressure in the Rey (Qarchak) prison, died following the negligence by the prison authorities. Another female prisoner suffered a heart attack in this prison. Also in Evin prison, a prisoner was transferred to prison clinic following a heart attack but lost his life due to lack of medical attention and not being sent to the hospital.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on January 16, 2017, at 9 am, a prisoner named Said Nohi from ward 7 of Evin prison following was taken to the prison infirmary after suffering a heart attack but lost his life due to lack of medical attention and not being sent to the hospital.
An informed source told HRANA’s reporter, “Mr. Nohi suffered a heart attack, then other prisoners carried him to the clinic number seven, the prison doctor just gave him a sublingual tablet and prisoners tried to convince the doctor to send the patient to a hospital but they were not successful, and were finally forced to get out of clinic. At 12:30 pm, the guard informed Said Nohi’s roommate to collect and deliver his belongings, because the prisoner had dead.”
On the other hand, in the prison of Rey (Qarchak) a female prisoner named Shiva Fekri died because of high blood pressure and prison authorities’ negligence and “not opening the doors of the ward” died.
Another female prisoner named Samaneh had a stroke in the same prison. Her fate is unknown after being transferred to the clinic.
