5 Political Prisoners on Hunger Strike in Different Prisons
HRANA News Agency – Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, Saeed Razavi Faqih, Iraj Hatami, Farid Azmodeh and Behzad Tarahomi are five political-security prisoners on hunger strike in different prisons.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Hossein Ronaghi Maleki and Saeed Razavi Faqih are two political prisoners and patients in ward 7 of Evin prison who are on the 4th and 7th day of their hunger strike because of lack of investigation to their therapeutic situation. So far, their requests have not been addressed by the authorities.
A close friend to Hossain Rounaghi Maleki said to HRANA’s reporter, “His medicines were finished before the New Year and he has been left without any treatment. The status of his New Year furlough is unknown and nobody gives any answer to his family. Hossain is kept in the prison illegally. His sentence was held on that time, and the forensic issued the order of intolerance of punishment. Besides, articles 504 and 297 could be applied for him and he could receive parole and pardon. This is while prison authorities constantly insult and harass Hossain”.
Also Iraj Hatami, Farid Azmodeh and Behroz Tarahomi, former employees of the Department of Defense, are three security prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison who are on hunger strike on protest at being transferred to other wards from hall number 12 of political prisoners in Rajai Shahr prison before the New Year. Authorities of Rajai Shahr prison have remained indifferent towards their request which is to be returned to hall number 12 based on the principle of separation of offenses.
It is worth noting that Omid Rahmani and Rasoul Shokri, two prisoners on financial charges who are kept in Orumieh Prison since 2011, were transferred to solitary confinement following the announcement of the hunger strike on Sunday, March 13, 2016. On Sunday of this week they ended their hunger strike and were transferred to the ward by the promise of authorities to address their problems.
