Arjang Davoodi case at Supreme Court

HRANA News Agency – Arjang Davoodi’s case – A death row Political Prisoner -is set to be reviewed at the Branch 32 of Supreme Court on 07 October, 2014.
According to the HRANA report quoted from the Voice of America, 2 months ago, Mr Davoodi was sentenced to death at the Branch 1, Karaj Islamic Revolutionary Court on the charges of “Waging war against state by being a member of MKO” which he denied this allegation.  
Back in 2003, Arjang Davoodi who is 61 years old was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, 74 lashes and 5 years deprivation of all civil rights on the charges of “Acting against national security, Blasphemy, and Insulting the Supreme Leader”. This sentence was later reduced to 10 years imprisonment.
Although he has served his first 10 years imprisonment sentence, he was framed-up by Security and Intelligence Organisations while he was in jail and received another 20 years and 8 months imprisonment sentence. He was later sentenced to death by Branch 1, Karaj Islamic Revolutionary Court.  At the moment, Mr Davoodi is jailed at Ward 12 Karaj Rajaee Shahr Prison.
International Amnesty and Human Rights Organisations have demanded a fair trial and his freedom in different statements.
In his recent statement, Ahmad Shahid -United Nations Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Iran- says: “Issuing long imprisonments and death sentences -after unfair trials which usually have not followed the correct legal procedure- based on the allegations which should not be punished by long imprisonments or death sentences, are absolute violation of international human rights laws and should be stopped”
So far, Arjang Davoodi has published several books and articles from inside of the prison and condemned Ayatollah Ali Khameneie – Iran’s Supreme Leader- for his Political policies and strategies.  In his publications, Mr Davoodi held the Supreme Leader’s policies responsible for violation of human rights, plunder of national resources and unsuitable situation of the country.
