HRANA News Agency – Vahid Asghari, Rasoul Bodaghi, Heshmat Tabarzadi, Behnam Ebrahimzadeh and Khaled Hardani issued a statement on the occasion of World Food Day.
The following is a copy of this statement submitted to HRANA:
“We are living in a time that war has been spread around the globe and the fundamentalist groups are killing innocent people. This is a time that many people in Africa, Asia, and Latin America are threatened by famine, and about 2 billion people are spending days and nights hungry.
This is a time that millions of innocent children and women, who are the most vulnerable group during the famine and wars, have lost their lives to shortage of food; a time that drought, famine, floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters have affected many lives in the world; a time that the laws and policies of dictators and wars in Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, and Afghanistan have significantly increased the growing number of hungry people looking for food.
Despite their propaganda about ambitions to build a paradise for their people, this is a time that these isolationist governments have led their countries toward hunger and malnutrition.
We, the political prisoners of Rajai Shahr prison – ward of political prisoners, demand the unions of all businesses corporations, governments and people of the world to help people suffering from food shortage by modifying and updating policies and laws of companies and governments in collaboration with “World Food Program” of the United Nations. We also request and support addressing the underlying cause of these conditions, participation in awareness campaigns, promoting the World Food Day, and intellectual contributions of intellectuals to eliminate poverty and the current dreadful conditions in the world.”
