HRANA News Agency – About two hundred Erfaneh Halgheh followers gathered in front of Evin Prison on Sunday, December 28th and demanded the freedom for Mohammad Ali Taheri, the founder of Erfaneh Halgheh (Interuniversalism Mysticism). The gathering was formed under tight security surveillance and was disturbed by security guards.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), protestors attended todays gathering in reaction to the reports about Mr Taheri’s hunger strike which has resulted to serious cardiovascular condition for him.
One of the participants in the rally told HRANA’s reporter: “About 200 people were present at the rally for the appointment which was at ten o’clock this morning. Police vehicles and Ambulances were pre-arranged on the location by security forces, surrounded the crowd and stopped any other individuals from joining them. Then by releasing loud sirens they tried to intimidate them and prevented them from shouting any slogans. But participants in the rally had writings and signs on their placards and by showing Photos of Mohammad Ali Taheri announced their protest. Finally, after the security forces and police intervened, protestors were guided to the other side of the road. The protesters then walked from Yadegar Imam Highway to Chamran High way while holding the posters and placards high in their hands.”
Based on the received news, a week ago, Mohammad Ali Taheri, in the wake of extreme physical weakness due to prolonged hunger strike, suffered a serious heart condition, but the doctors were able to revive him back to life.
The Founder of Erfaneh Halgheh (Interuniversalism Mysticism), who has been kept at solitary confinement since 4 May 2011 initiated his 11th hunger strike on 26 October 2014 demanding the closure of his case for the charge of corruption on the earth. During his hunger strike, Mr Taheri announced that he will not stop the hunger strike until the closure of his case.
About 20 days after returning from hospital to prison, Mr Taheri went into coma. He was initially transferred to prison clinic and then was sent to Rajaee Hospital and during this time the Public Prosecutor visited him in the hospital. After returning Taheri to prison from hospital, several promises were made by the investigators and interrogators about closing his case with the charges of corruption on earth and apostasy. After these promises he switched from complete hunger strike to half hunger strike. After a few days of noticing that these promises and appointments were not met he switched back to full hunger strike on 13 December. Days after the resumption of full hunger strike, on 23 December, due to the extra pressure and extreme physical weakness, Taheri suffered a serious heart condition that moved him to the hospital where he was revived again.
Mohammad Ali Taheri is already under medical care and his health is under serious danger.
