According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Ali (Amir) Amirgholi, political prisoner in ward 8 of Evin prison, after more than nine months in detention, has not been tried yet.
Formerly, the trial of this former student activist was supposed to be held on 23rd May in Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court, and although he was sent to the court, the trial was not held and even a new trial date has not been announced by judge Salvati, yet.
Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court and earlier, Branch 6 of interrogation in Evin, has kept him in a state of uncertainty, despite the peaceful nature of Amirgholi’s activities, and with not holding a trial, they have refused to convert his detention order to release on the bail until the court issues and finalizes the sentence.
Amir Amirqholi, former student activist was arrested on 1st December last year and was held in solitary confinement for about two months in ward 209 of Evin prison under interrogation and after his interrogations he was transferred to ward 8 in Evin prison.
He was charged with gathering and collusion against the national security, propaganda against the regime, blasphemy and insulting the leadership, by Naseri, the Branch 6 of persecution’s investigator, in Evin.
According to one of his relatives; “The allegation of collusion and propaganda against the regime are because of his participation in a gathering to support Kobani, and blasphemy and insulting the leadership allegations are because of what he posted on his personal Facebook page.”
Amir Amirgholi was arrested earlier in September 2008 because of his political and student activities, and was subsequently expelled from the university, and now he is in the tenth month of his detention in ward 8 of Evin prison.
Prior to this, HRANA released the news that this political prisoner was stung by ticks in ward 8 of Evin prison.
Ward 8 is one of the worst wards in Evin prison where a large number of political and conscience prisoners are being held in an extreme congestion and lack of minimum facilities.
