HRANA News Agency – Eisa Saharkhiz ended his hunger strike with the promise of acceptance of a part of his demands. The court session of this imprisoned journalist will be hold on March 5, in branch number 28 of the revolutionary court by judge Moghiseh.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Mehdi Saharkhiz publicized this news on Tuesday via Twitter, and said that his father ended his hunger strike after 6 days.
Mehdi Saharkhiz posted in Twitter on February 13 that in their last visit his father had announced the start of the dry hunger strike and said, “either Behesht-e-Zahra (cemetery) or Baghiyatollah (hospital) will be my place”.
On a wet hunger strike, the protestor can drink, but on a dry hunger strike, the protestor rejects eating food or drinking water or beverages.
Mahmod Alizadeh Tabatabaei, the lawyer of Eisa Saharkhiz said that the case was sent to branch number 28 of the revolutionary court.
Eisa Saharkhiz’s son in the begging of January had said that his father started the hunger strike in protest to keeping him under detention despite the end of the legal warrant, and he would continue it until his status would be released on the bail, or there would be any progress in process of his case. His last hunger strike ended on December 21.
Eisa Saharkhiz who is under arrest for more than two months, was deprived of having a lawyer. His first phone contact with his family was made after 40 days, and after that he had only one family visit.
It is said that despite the speculation about charges like insulting the supreme leader, propaganda against the regime and collusion against the national security, no case has yet been sent to the judicial authority.
Eisa Saharkhiz was arrested by the revolutionary guards by the warrant issued by branch number 12 of Tehran court on November 2, 2015, and his personal accessories were seized.
He is one of the famous journalists who has been arrested and imprisoned many times. The former head of editorial board of Aftab monthly had also been arrested on July 2, 2009 and was sentenced to three years in prison by branch number 15 of the revolutionary court. Besides, on August 5, 2011 he was sentenced to 2 years in prison for his journalism.
Eisa Saharkhiz who is suffering from different diseases and was hospitalized few months before his freedom, was the prisoner of Rajaei Shahr prison.
After being released despite being banned from working, he criticized the supreme leader by writing articles which were publicized in his Facebook page and some websites like Roozonline.
