Ali Moezzi Was Poisoned in the Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ali Moezzi, political prisoner of Evin prison who is suffering from bladder cancer, prostate and kidney problems, was poisoned on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, Ali Moezzi, political prisoner in ward 8 of Evin prison, who suffers from various diseases, was food poisoned and was taken to the prison infirmary.
A person close to Mr. Moezzi confirmed the news in an interview with the reporter of HRANA and said: “Apparently Mr. Moezzi was food poisoned and was taken to the prison infirmary on Wednesday afternoon where they just injected him the reliever but his condition got worse and he suffered from nausea constantly and was hospitalized in the prison clinic until the middle of the night. His doctor had announced that he had food poisoning but he had not had any other food apart from the prison food”.
The source close to Mr Moezzi noted about his general health: “We noticed that he is already better in the last contact with his family.”
HRANA had reported previously that the political prisoner is suffering from bladder cancer, prostate and kidney problems and was facing rejection of medical furlough requests or transfer to the hospital by prison authorities.
It should be noted that Mr. Moezzi was charged with propaganda against the regime, he was summoned to branch number 28 of the revolutionary court last December and was again sentenced to one year in prison by judge Moghiseh and has been deprived of the right to have a lawyer in the court. He also was tried once again with the same charges in Karaj court.
Mr. Moezzi who had been imprisoned during 80s, too, was arrested in autumn 2007 and sentenced to two years in prison and conditional 3 years in prison. He was released after two years from Rajaei Shahr prison, and again imprisoned in June 2011.
Previously, another informed source said to HRANA, “Ali Moezzi was transferred to the hospital for his bladder problem and was supposed to start treatment of his kidney but the new case was opened and he was sent to solitary confinement and after that prison authorities refuse to send him to the hospital again.”
Ali Moezzi was sentenced to 4 years in prison on charge of supporting MEK. Before opening the new case he should had been released in April 2015. He was sentenced in branch number 15 of the revolutionary court to one year in prison.
Need to be mentioned this prisoner has never had furlough during more than 4 years of his imprisonment.
