Ali Moezi Transferred to Evin Prison

HRANA News Agency – Ali Moezi, political prisoner had been transferred to an unknown location, less than two months ago during a meeting with his family in the Visiting Room in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj. Now, it has been specified that Mr. Moezi is held in ward 209, for his new case which will be treated in Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran.
In the near future, the trial for his new accusations will be held in this Branch. Ali Moezi had been transferred to Rajai Shahr prison as a punishment in September last year, following his protest against political prisoners’ condition.
According to the report of Human Rights Activist News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Ali Moezi, political prisoner was transferred to an unknown location from Visiting Room in Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, by the judicial officers, on January 4, 2017.
A source close to Moezi’s family told HRANA’s reporter: “His family was able to visit Mr. Moezi, in Evin prison. He has been transferred from Rajai Shahr prison to ward 209 of Evin prison.”
This informed source added: “A new case has been made for Mr. Moezi, and has been referred to Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court, but the trial has not been held yet. He has been told that he would be summoned to the court, very soon.”
HRANA had reported in September last year that Ali Moezi who had been exiled to Rajai Shahr prison in Karaj, following the protest in the wake of a conflict between general crime prisoners and political prisoners and had been returned to Evin prison due to defects in the documents, after 15 days of uncertainty in the quarantine of these two prisons. He finally was transferred to Hall 12 of political prisoners in Rajai Shahr, on September 21, 2016. Mr. Moezzi has a poor health condition and because of his illness, his bowels have got “continuous bleeding”.
Ali Moezi suffers from bladder tumor, prostate and kidney disease, and has faced authorities’ objection to his medical leave to be treated in a hospital. He also has been deprived of receiving proper treatment and medical care during his time in prison.
It should be reminded that Mr. Moezi has been accused, in another case, of propaganda against the regime from inside the prison. He was summoned to Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court and was sentenced again to one more year imprisonment by Judge Moghiseh. He was deprived of the right of having a lawyer in this court.
Mr. Moezi, who also has a history of arrests and imprisonment in the ’80s, was arrested in the fall of 2008, and was sentenced to two years imprisonment and three years of probation. After serving two years imprisonment in Rajai Shahr prison, and after being released from the prison, he was arrested again in June 2011.
This political prisoner was sentenced to four years imprisonment on charges of sympathizing with the People’s Mojahedin Organization. Before this new case he was supposed to be released in April 2015. He then was sentenced to one year imprisonment, by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary.
