Arash Sadeghi

HRANA News Agency – Arash Sadeghi, civil activist in ward 350 of Evin prison, has ended his hunger strike since couple of days ago based on prosecutor’s promises, and was transferred to Imam Khomeini hospital in Tehran for one day and was returned to the prison again.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), Arash Sadeghi, imprisoned civil activist in ward 350 of Evin prison, was transferred to Imam Khomeini hospital in Tehran, on February 6, 2017, and was returned to the prison after the medical tests.

Arash Sadeghi has ended his hunger strike since couple of days ago based on the prosecutor’s promises regarding his case and his wife, Golrokh Irai, but the date of ending his hunger strike is not clear.

Arsh Sadeghi who had gone on hunger strike again, at the same time that his wife, Golrokh Irai, was rearrested on January 22, was transferred to ward 350 on January 25, which is a place with minimum communication facilities with the outside world.

This prisoner who started his second hunger strike just a few days after his first 71-day long hunger strike, is in an inappropriate physical condition. Mr. Sadeghi had been transferred to ward 2-A of the Revolutionary Guards in Evin prison “under the pretext of” transition to hospital on January 25, and after three days was transferred to ward 350. His personal belongings including his “watch and wedding ring” have disappeared in this moving.

Arash Sadeghi, imprisoned civil rights activist in Evin Prison, had started a hunger strike, demanding a fair trial to address the accusations against his wife, Golrokh Irai, and ended it after 71 days with the promise of the authorities, when his wife left the prison on January 3.

However, after two weeks of sending Golrokh Irai on leave, and while Arash Sadeghi had ended his hunger strike, the authorities breached their promise and arrested Mrs. Irai and returned her to prison on January 22, so Mr. Sadeghi despite his very critical physical condition, due to his long term hunger strike, went on hunger strike again, to protest against the authorities breach of promises.

It should be mentioned that specialist doctors have confirmed that he had stomach bleeding up to 12.5%, shortage of hemoglobin (anemia), serious and severe lung infection and had to be hospitalized at least 4 to 5 days.

However, due to the pressures by the prosecutor, prison security and Sarallh Corps, this prisoner was returned to Evin prison, on February 6, 2017.

HRANA has reported previously that the kidney and intestines tests’ results show that his kidneys have been damaged due to water shortage. According to the doctor, the right kidney won’t work in the future, as it used to.

The intestine tests also indicate that he has got intestinal adhesion, and doctors said that if that condition would continue, there was a risk of bleeding.

According to the forensic report, after examining Arash Sadeghi, there is a risk of coma and even his death.
